DAKOTA - 6 years old, 35 pounds, house trained, no other pets, good with kids. Dakota is described as the SWEETEST SOUL ON EARTH but overprotective to a fault. She was surrendered recently when she bit a friend of her family after they tried to pet her without asking them first. So it seems Dakota will attach herself to you and be so loyal that she needs management around new people in your home. Dakota is a return resident from several years ago. Back then we were given lots of information about her including she loved the family's cats and kids. They didn't have her around dogs so we didn't know how she felt about other dogs. She was timid around men and would growl to let you know when she was uncomfortable. We know a bit more about her now, including the over protectiveness. We are now told she does not like cats or other dogs as well. This is actually great information bc now we know exactly the adopter Dakota needs. She is looking for a home where she can be managed around new people, especially men. She is looking for a home where there might be no other animals so she can settle in herself. And she is looking for a home where she will be loved, cared for, walked, given exercise and play time and allowed initially to settle in at her own pace. Come meet this gorgeous gal!
